Juan Seguin Elementary School
Renovation and repair of an elementary school damaged by 8 inches of Hurricane Harvey floodwater, with modernized finishes, IT upgrades, and new furniture throughout.
Project Overview
Juan Seguin Elementary School was subjected to 8 inches of floodwater due to Hurricane Harvey. The floodwaters caused significant damage to the school. MWA Architects provided construction documents to renovate/repair the school.
Scope of Repairs
Scope of work included replacement of all drywall to 4' above finished floor, replacing batt insulation, replacing cementitious backer board behind ceramic tiled walls, and replacing all electrical or communication devices damaged throughout the building. A fixed CMU wall between the Cafetorium and Gymnasium was replaced with an electrically operable partition. All wall and floor finishes were replaced, as well as all casework.
Modernization
The school was equipped with IT upgrades that will support future equipment. The color scheme in the building was updated to incorporate a more modern look. Our scope also included assistance in selecting all furniture, including classrooms, library, offices, and cafeteria.
