Life Cycle of the Butterfly

C o n c e p t u a l

This is a building and site concept exploration into the metamorphic stages of the butterfly. This study seeks to generate educational building and site facilities in which the program follows organic forms to create uplifting educational environments. The envelope for each building study takes structural analogy from living organisms including the daisy flower, the caterpillar, the chrysalis, the butterfly and the lady bug. The resulting colorful and flexible composition proposes a scalable educational program that uses buildings as building blocks to house daycare, Pre-K, and K-12 learning spaces that can be suited to meet multiple educational project programs in urban, suburban and rural communities. Site design takes advantage of development requirements such as detention and new trees and turns them into sustainable opportunities.
